Why this table exists
METHODThe list for people who put weather first and price second: of the cities warm enough to matter (average daily highs at 22°C or above), which cost least? It replaces the endless two-variable argument — 'but it's expensive' / 'but it's cold' — with one table that fixes both axes at once.
How to read it
METHODTwo columns, honestly labelled: an average temperature and the comfortable single-person monthly tier. Three readings to get right before using it. First, 'warm' is an average — Medellín's 22°C is an altitude-adjusted permanent spring, while Bangkok's 28°C is January, and the difference matters in the actual month you arrive. Second, warm averages hide humidity and rainy seasons — Chiang Mai's March burning season and Playa del Carmen's hurricane window are both marked in the dossiers because they change the experience more than the average does. Third, the two cheapest rows, Da Nang and Chiang Mai, are warm the way the whole list is warm: 25–26°C and genuinely cheap.
Top of the table, explained
NOTESDa Nang ($750) and Chiang Mai ($800) hold the top of the table on 26°C and 25°C respectively, and the honest note is the one the dossiers both carry: these are beach and valley cities whose weather is a feature and whose shoulder seasons everyone learns to plan around. Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok make the sub-$1,000 tier at 28°C with megacity infrastructure attached, and Medellín is the elegant anomaly — 22°C on the strength of altitude, $1,200/month, and the transformation story genuine enough that the dossier says the only real risks are the ones safety tables make obvious. Playa del Carmen at $1,400 is the Caribbean option with US East Coast hours; Dubai and Singapore close the table as the warm cities that are warm and anything but affordable.

For the top of the table it genuinely means no winter: Da Nang, Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City stay warm year-round. The Europeans on the wider site keep their seasons; this list only admits cities warm enough that mild-winter fatigue is not the deciding factor.
Which of these has the least miserable rainy season?
Medellín's weather is the great leveller — no real rainy season, just drier and wetter months at similar temperatures. For the Southeast Asian cities, accept the rain window and price it into the plan; the dossiers note which months punish which city.
Safety on a warm-and-cheap list — what should I check?
The same thing you check on any list: the safety table and the dossier itself. Playa del Carmen's hurricane and sargassum seasons are scheduled events you can plan around; for Medellín the dossier's honest line is that the transformation is real and the precautions are still real.
